Terms and Conditions

Terms of Participation

I acknowledge and agree that I am participating voluntarily in the 2026 International Social and Behavior Change (SBCC) Summit and potentially its pre-conference events and side events, between 20 to 26 June 2026, hosted by co-chairs Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) and Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI), with support from the SBCC Summit Secretariat members and collectively referred to as the “Summit Organizers”.

I acknowledge and agree that the Summit Organizers have the right under this Agreement to terminate my participation at the SBCC Summit at any time for any reason.

At the SBCC Summit, we are committed to fostering an open, inclusive, and respectful environment where all participants feel safe and valued. We ask that everyone engage with one another in a spirit of dignity and mutual respect, whether during sessions, informal discussions, or online interactions. This includes honoring the diverse perspectives, cultures, and lived experiences represented at the Summit, even when opinions differ. Together, we aim to create a welcoming space that encourages meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and learning for all.

Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Statement

The Summit is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. By registering to attend the SBCC Summit:

  • I acknowledge and understand that in-person or virtual discrimination, intimidation, bullying/cyberbullying, and harassment based on any protected characteristic, which includes sex, gender, marital status, pregnancy, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military status, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristic, is prohibited in any SBCC Summit activity.
  • I commit to treating everyone with dignity and respect. This includes not engaging in any form of sexual, emotional, verbal, or physical harassment, intimidation, or bullying that targets fellow participants, speakers, organizers, or affiliated parties, even in “jest”.
  • I acknowledge and understand that sexual misconduct of any kind, including sexual harassment and sexual assault, is prohibited in any SBCC Summit activity.
  • I further acknowledge and understand that my participation at the SBCC Summit can be limited or terminated, without reimbursement, at the sole discretion of the Summit Organizers should I exhibit discriminatory or harassing conduct or sexual misconduct or post misleading, defamatory, or harmful content related to any aspect of the Summit or its participants during the course of or related to the SBCC Summit, including in all settings and locations in which SBCC Summit activities are conducted.

Recognizing that power imbalances between attendees may exist or be perceived to exist due to gender, age, professional position, cultural differences, or other factors, I further commit to:

  • Being aware of the existence of or potential for power imbalances in my interactions with others within this context.
  • Setting an example that I wish others at this event to follow.
  • Avoiding situations that are, or could be perceived as, inappropriate or threatening, such as following or engaging with another participant, especially young people (anyone between the ages of 18–29 years old) and women, in/near their hotel room, promising work-related or other benefits in exchange for personal favors or engagement, and/or other types of behavior not listed here.
  • Not engaging in any physical, verbal and/or sexual behavior that is, or could be perceived by a reasonable person as, inappropriate or threatening.

A mechanism for reporting inappropriate behavior and/or allegations will be made available to attendees during the SBCC Summit. This commitment applies to all participants in all settings and locations in which SBCC Summit activities are conducted, including committee meetings, workshops, virtual sessions/webinars, online chat/Q&A features, and other work and social functions where attendees, employees, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, or guests are present.

Images of Participant

I acknowledge and agree that, by virtue of participation in the SBCC Summit, recorded audio and/or video footage, photographs, or other images of my likeness may be made or obtained by the Summit Organizers. I grant the SBCC Organizers all rights to recorded audio and/or video footage, photographs, or other images of my likeness for the perpetual, exclusive and unencumbered right to use, edit, reproduce, distribute, telecast, publish and otherwise exhibit worldwide, including excerpts, in any forms of media now known or hereafter devised. Further, CCP and CCSI may syndicate or license this content on any platform in any of the above formats, with partners or platforms, present or in the future, of its choosing.

Release and Indemnification

I hereby release and forever discharge CCP and CCSI, its employees, agents, and representatives from all actions, claims, or demands that I now have or may have against CCP and related to the SBCC Summit, including but not limited to (a) any bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, property damage, or loss that may result from participation at the SBCC Summit, unless such injury, damage, or loss is caused directly by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of CCP and CCSI, its employees, agents, and representatives; and (b) libel, defamation, misappropriation, invasion of privacy or right of publicity, other similar claims related to the use of Participant’s name and likeness, or based upon any use of, or failure or omission to use, Participant's name and likeness.

I agree to indemnify, defend and hold CCP and CCSI, its employees, agents and representatives, harmless to the fullest extent permitted by law for, from, and against each and every claim, liability, loss, damage, and expense, including reasonable attorney fees, which may be made or brought against or incurred by CCP and CCSI relating to or arising out of my participation at the SBCC Summit, or my breach of this Agreement.

Equipment

If I am assigned equipment by CCP, conference co-host, professional conference organizer, event venue, or affiliate of either party, including but not limited to interpretation, computer, video, audio, I agree to return all equipment in good working condition. If damage to the equipment is a direct result of misuse or improper care by me, I will reimburse CCP (or the appropriate party), for the repair or replacement of the item. Equipment is issued for work purposes only. No personal use is allowed.

Dispute Resolution

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Maryland, United States of America, and any claim made under this Agreement shall be adjudicated in a court located in the State of Maryland, with all rights to a jury trial waived by both parties (excepting any conflict of law provisions which would serve to defeat application of Maryland substantive law). This Agreement embodies the entire agreement and understanding between CCP and Participant relating to the subject matters herein.

The provisions of this Agreement titled “Release and Indemnification,” “Images of Participant,” and “Governing Law” shall survive and continue after termination or expiration of this Agreement.

I hereby acknowledge that I have carefully read this Agreement and fully understand its contents. I further acknowledge that I have had sufficient opportunity to review this Agreement and seek legal advice if I have any questions or concerns.
