FAQs

*This FAQ document will be updated periodically

What are the new dates of the Summit?

The new dates of the Summit are December 5-9, 2022. Pre-Summit auxiliary events will begin on Saturday, December 3 and on-site registration will open Sunday, December 4.

Where will the Summit be held?

The Summit will remain in Morocco and will be held at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco.

Is registration open?

Registration is currently closed and will reopen as we get closer to the new dates. An announcement will be sent out via the Summit mailing list when it reopens. Join the mailing list here.

Can I receive a refund for my hotel reservation?

Because of losses related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Moroccan government has issued a "no refund" policy, Bill 30.20. Therefore, it is unlikely that hotels will provide a full refund. Instead, you should be able to secure a voucher for future travel. This is beyond our control, as well as the control of the hotels. You can find more information and the official government statement in English and French.

Will my hotel reservations transfer to the new date?

If you booked your hotel outside of the Summit website, you will need to contact the hotel directly for more information and to discuss available options.

If you booked through the Summit website (with exception of Movenpick), you have the following options:

  • Transfer to the new 2022 Summit dates

  • Transfer your booking to someone else without penalty

  • Request a voucher for the paid amount to use at a later date

For any of the above, please contact housingsbcc2020@rts.co.ma.

Who will issue the travel voucher and how long is it good for?

If you booked your hotel through the Summit website, the voucher will be issued by RTS and will be valid for up to 18 months from the date of issue. If you booked your stay directly with the hotel, that hotel will issue the voucher.

What do I do about my airline tickets?

You will need to work with your airline to make adjustments. Most airlines provide an option to change the dates on a ticket for a small fee. It is important that you change your tickets prior to the current date of travel. The new dates of the Summit are December 5-9, 2022.

I am unable to attend. Can I get a registration refund?

While we hope that you will be able to attend the Summit,, we understand this is not always possible. We also recognize the current situation is unique and unprecedented. As a result, we have reviewed and updated our refund policy:

  • Roll over your current registration to 2022: We hope you can join us in Marrakech in 2022. In this event, we will apply it to your participation in 2022. The registration fee will remain the same.

  • Designate a substitute: If you are unable to attend, you can designate a substitute. The registration fee will remain the same. Please note that the deadline to designate a substitute is May 7, 2021. To transfer your registration, please submit your request here.

  • Contribute your registration to support the Youth Scholarship Fund: As you know, we are eager to ensure our younger colleagues have the opportunity to join us at the Summit. We would be grateful if you are able to contribute your registration so that we can help support more of the next generation of SBCC professionals to join us in Morocco. Use this form to reach out if you are interested in supporting young people to attend the Summit. Please let us know by June 30, 2022.

  • Request a refund: If you are not able to attend or designate a substitute, we will provide a refund less a 15% processing payment. We regret that we cannot provide a 100% refund. The processing fee is covering un-recoupable costs for the planned event in 2020/1, including upfront expenses and processing fees.

All refund requests must be received by May 7, 2021. No refunds will be granted after this date for any reason.

To help facilitate your refund, please provide the exact same information used at the time of purchase. We will not be able to process refunds  if the information does not match the form of payment used at the time of purchasing your ticket. When submitting your form, please be sure to click the submit button on the last page. You should receive a confirmation message that your form has been submitted.

When filling out the form, you will need to identify details on how you paid along with the information for the payee (who bought the tickets) and the registrant (who the ticket is registered under).

What can I expect when submitting a refund?

Please read the details here.

My abstract was accepted for the original Summit dates, will I still be able to present it in December 2022?

To ensure that the program is timely and relevant, we will be completely overhauling the entire program to include the most recent evidence, innovations and insights gained from our field. If you submitted an abstract and it was accepted, it is no longer part of the program. However, we are still keen to highlight your work and will host a variety of events in the coming months to share abstracts that would have been presented at the 2020 Summit.

A new call for abstracts will be made at the end of 2021. If you feel your abstract is still relevant, you are welcome to resubmit at that time.

Will you be accepting additional abstracts?

The SBCC Summit Secretariat, in collaboration with the Program Sub-Committee,  will create  a new abstract submission process. An announcement will be made through the official Summit website and mailing list.

Will my auxiliary event time and exhibit booth location still be honored?

Yes, everything that was in place will transfer to the new Summit dates, at the original rate. For auxiliary events, you are not required to maintain the same topic. Should you not be able to attend on the new dates please let us know by May 7, 2021. A refund will be granted, less a 15% processing fee. Should you request a refund and choose to rebook at a later date, we will not be able to guarantee the same rate, timeslot or availability.

Why are you postponing again when many countries are starting to relax restrictions and open up their borders?

Many questions remain about how quickly people will be fully vaccinated and whether new variants will complicate the process. We determined that in the interests of ensuring a safe Summit, we needed to postpone again.

Will there be  any virtual events before the 2022 Summit?

The Summit organizers are exploring opportunities for mini virtual events. Visit our Virtual Events page for more information.

As additional events develop, they will be announced through the Summit website, as well as through the Summit mailing list.
