Catholic Relief Services was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to serve World War II survivors in Europe. Since then, CRS has expanded in size to reach more than 190 million people in more than 100 countries on five continents. For nearly 80 years, CRS has managed complex, multisectoral relief and development projects that are rooted in our commitment to promote the holistic well-being and dignity of each person. The unique nature of our expansive global network allows us to respond at scale, but within a truly local context. CRS implements integrated programming across a multitude of sectors, including emergency response, agriculture, livelihoods, health, social services, education, microfinance, water and sanitation, justice and peacebuilding, youth, partnership and capacity strengthening. Social and behavior change is foundational to all the work that CRS does in partnership with the communities that we serve.
