Too often, valuable insights remain locked inside academic journals, unavailable to the communities, implementers, and decision-makers who could act on them. While many researchers and public health professionals recognize the importance of broader communication, they are rarely given the space, support, or practical tools to begin.
This hands-on workshop creates that space. It introduces the fundamentals of popular dissemination and supports participants in designing strategies that make their research more accessible and relevant.
Designed for individuals actively involved in research or program implementation, the session delivers in three phases. First, participants reflect on why dissemination matters and explore real-world examples. Second, small groups co-develop communication strategies for sample case studies, bringing in peer insight and cross-cultural perspectives. Third, participants use a Dissemination Mapping Canvas to begin developing a tailored dissemination plan for their own project, identifying key messages, audiences, formats, and available resources.
The message is simple but urgent: dissemination does not need to be complex or expensive. But it must be intentional. This session offers a practical starting point for embedding communication into research practice, transforming knowledge from something published to something that truly connects and drives change.
