This interactive skills-building workshop will introduce participants to the Demand Strategy Builder tool (DSB)-a structured, collaborative, and human-centred process for identifying localised reasons for low immunisation and co-creating behavioural solutions to increase vaccine uptake. Developed by Common Thread and UNICEF as a global public good, the DSB is designed to be locally led at the subnational level, bringing together government staff, healthcare workers, community leaders, and partners to build a plan for increasing vaccine uptake amongst high-risk zero dose or undervaccinated communities. The DSB tool follows a process to guide teams through five steps: analysing existing data and aligning on the problem, exploring barriers, analysing findings and designing solutions, with a view to a high-level implementation plan.
This skills-building workshop session will provide: 1) an initial overview and training of the DSB tool: its process, benefits, and outcomes, and 2) a hands-on, gamified activity using visual cards of behavioural science-informed interventions. Participants will learn how to categorise barriers according to BeSD, then map the intervention cards to these barriers. By the end they'll learn a fun and interactive process for co-creating evidence-based demand solutions.
