The AMAZE Initiative: Leveraging Digital Sexuality Education Resources for Very Young Adolescents through Partnerships, Content Adaptation, and Dissemination Strategies

Session Information

Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) empowers young people by equipping them with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to make informed decisions about their health, bodies, and well-being. According to UNESCO's 2021 Global Status Report on CSE, 85% of 155 surveyed countries have policies or laws mandating sexuality education in schools. However, many young people still lack access to relevant, timely, and age-appropriate CSE.

Launched in 2016, the AMAZE Initiative, implemented by Advocates for Youth in collaboration with organizations worldwide, addresses this gap by providing medically accurate, inclusive, and engaging sexuality education for very young adolescents (VYAs). Through short animated videos and complementary resources such as comics, games, and lesson plans, AMAZE covers topics including puberty, relationships, gender, sexual orientation, safety, and sexual and reproductive health.

With more than 100 million global views and partnerships spanning all regions, AMAZE offers a vast library of original, dubbed, and adapted videos in numerous languages, all freely available online. The initiative also equips teachers and parents with tools to foster open dialogue and support young people's learning on critical issues, including pregnancy prevention, consent, intimate partner violence, and gender-based violence.
